Music Programming

Join us for the Music track, where we celebrate the music and performers of the fan community. Not everything is set yet, but there will be concerts, and a couple of panels, and open music circles at night, and even a chance for you to show your creative side on stage!

ConFusion's Fan Guest of Honor is Tom Smith, The World's Fastest Filker! (If you don't know what filk is, that's OK. Come on by, and we'll be happy to tell you all about it.) Tom gives a concert every year at the con, and it's always a great time for everyone. Comedy, drama, horror, singalongs - what more could you ask?

Saturday night, we're excited to be showcasing, in a special concert performance, a work of Tom's that hasn't been seen in the Midwest since it was first performed in 1987. Ladies and gentlemen . . . it's The Rocky Horror Muppet Show! Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like - Rocky Horror as performed by the Muppets, with all the attendant disasters.

And if you'd like to show off what you can do in front of an audience, sign up for Your Ten Minutes Of Fame. We did this for the first time last year, and had so much fun we're doing it again. It doesn't matter if you sing, play an instrument, act, do stand-up comedy, juggle, or have some other talent, you're welcome on our stage. The only rules are:

  • You get ten minutes, no more, and that includes set-up and tear-down
  • We only have room for eight acts, so please come by the Niles room and sign up early
  • Nothing R- or X-rated, please, as there may be kids in the room

Concerts! We're going to have 'em! So far we have lined up:

  • Cheshire Moon — Friday evening after Opening Ceremonies
  • Mark Bernstein — Saturday afternoon
  • Peggi Warner-Lalonde and Carolyn Brown — Saturday afternoon
  • Tom Smith (Our Fan GoH!) — Saturday early evening
  • Tom Smith's The Rocky Horror Muppet Show — Saturday night
